Deborah Hesse is a New Haven, Connecticut–based multidisciplinary artist whose work investigates natural systems through material process. She holds a B.A. from Smith College and an M.A. in Painting and Printmaking from the University of New Mexico, where she was a fellow at the Tamarind Institute of Lithography. Her practice merges industrial byproducts, digital fabrication, with hand processes to create luminous, biomorphic wall works that evoke microscopic life, mapping systems, and shifting terrains.

Hesse has received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Connecticut Office of the Arts, and Sea Grant programs in Rhode Island and Connecticut. She was selected as an international artist-in-residence at Hongti Art Center in Busan, South Korea, where her research culminated in a solo exhibition. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is held in U.S. private collections.
